Why Taking A Vacation Is Good For Your Business

Tomorrow, MeloTel’s Founder and CEO, John Meloche will start his annual family vacation, taking his wonderful wife Kathryn and their two sons Mark and Lukas on another exciting road trip. We’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that John will be out of the office until July 22nd but the MeloTel team will, as always, be ready to happily provide you with the excellent customer service you’re used to getting from MeloTel in John’s absence.

It’s important to us that we pass along such information because, as a smaller company, we recognize that many of our clients interact with John directly. As the name of our business may give away, we’re a family-owned business that takes pride in developing family-like relationships with the many clients who entrust us as their telecom service provider.

You can trust the MeloTel team!

For those who may be used to speaking with John on a regular basis, it’s our mission to make you very comfortable with the fact that no matter who you speak to, at MeloTel, you’re in good hands. Keep in mind that if you wish to email or call John directly during his vacation, he will be responding to all messages within two to three days of his return.

Taking vacations, by the way, is actually a good business practice. In fact, industry experts recommend yearly vacations to help those who take them recharge and re-energize. As you’re likely aware from experience, running a business can really wear you out. When you take some time away from the office to be with your family and friends in a fun and relaxing environment, it can work wonders for your business prowess.

Taking a vacation helps to alleviate stress.

“The most obvious benefit of a vacation is the personal relaxation and lowering of stress levels, but think about how that impacts your work life once you return to the office,” says Andy Kocemba on, “Most find themselves recharged and ready to run their companies with new enthusiasm. This energy pours itself into positive change and momentum within your company, and also spreads to the employees who look to you for guidance and inspiration.”

It is also worth mentioning that taking vacations speaks volumes about your team. Naturally, when you leave the office, someone must be left in charge. If you don’t feel comfortable leaving your team to handle your company’s affairs, you likely haven’t hired the right fits for your company culture. John’s willingness to trust his team members is a testament to the strength of our entire staff.

Taking a vacation shows how much you trust your team.

On, Jim Blasingame explains the important of hiring quality. “Taking time off requires being able to leave your business with a team that’s trustworthy,” he writes, “If you’re not comfortable with the idea of leaving your baby in the care of others, your instincts are probably good, but your hiring practices may not be. Part of your interview process should determine whether a prospect is the quality of individual you would trust with your company in your absence.”
