On behalf of the entire MeloTel team, we hope you are all in great health and continuing to be safe. The coronavirus pandemic has certainly changed all of our lives. Now, that August is well underway, we can all say we’ve had several months of experience learning how to deal with this crisis. It definitely hasn’t been easy. To put the health and safety of everyone first, many businesses have had to close either fully or partially since March.
Phase 3 has begun.
Here, in the province of Ontario, where MeloTel is headquartered, we are entering Phase 3 of the reopening process. For many business owners, this means opening their doors for the first time in many months. We just wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate all of those who have weathered the storm until now. As well, we’d like to offer some important reminders for how to stop the spread of COVID-19 in your workplace.
The Government of Ontario continues to release guidelines for how to manage the safe reopening of businesses across the province. No matter where you may be operating your business in North America, we feel these guidelines can be very helpful. They start with monitoring your own health. It’s important to look out for symptoms such as fever, cough or difficulty breathing.
Have you experienced any symptoms related to COVID-19?
If so, take a few moments to complete this self-assessment. It will give you some assistance with determining whether or not you should be tested for COVID-19. Remember to stay home if you do experience any symptoms and be sure to instruct your employees to do the same if they are feeling unwell.
When in the workplace, there are many things you can do to prevent the spread of the virus. Remember the importance of clean hands. Be sure to have ample soap and paper towels available in the washrooms at your facility. Of course, hot air dryers in lieu of paper towels are totally fine. Having alcohol-based hand sanitizer readily available is also necessary. It’s wise to have several bottles and/or sanitizer stations throughout the office.
Remind your workers of your office’s protocol.
As the Ministry of Health recommends, workers should conduct hand hygiene steps between every interaction with customers. You should provide non-touch, lined waste disposal receptacles for use by workers and customers throughout the workplace. And, of course, be sure to implement physical distancing measures.
This involves maintaining a distance of at least two metres or six feet from other people. If you have a retail location, you should have floor markers at your checkouts to stress the need for people to keep their distances from each other. As well, you may wish to place arrows on the floor of your shop to direct the flow of customer traffic.
Finally, whenever possible, use the telephone, video conferencing and/or the internet to conduct business. The MeloTel team can certainly help you with that! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us to learn all about our cloud-hosted Commercial Phone Services. Give us a call at 1-888-MELOTEL.
