Earlier this week, the Toronto Blue Jays pulled off a blockbuster trade in acquiring shortstop Troy Tulowitski from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Jose Reyes. Now, if you’re not a baseball fan, this news may not mean much to you. But, it does speak to an important aspect of the business world. Having a strong team is important. In fact, without good teamwork, a business is bound to fail.
With the Jays fighting for a playoff spot this year, they evidently felt that it was important to strengthen their team. And, in many cases, fledgling businesses require stronger components in order to function better. At MeloTel, we’re incredibly proud of the team that we’ve put together over the past several years. Each member plays his or her part so that the entire company can succeed on a daily basis.
Here are three reasons to bolster your team with strong players:
1. To have every position fielded by a specialist. There are nine positions on a baseball diamond. Each one is generally filled by a player who has a specific skill set for that position. Your company should employ a similar mindset. Not everyone can do every job. Acquiring specialists to man specific positions is a key ingredient to having your company function like a well-oiled machine. As mentioned, everyone has to play their respective parts.
There’s definitely a reason that Mohsin Kazmi was hired as our Systems Administrator while Daniel Faraldo plays the role of MeloTel’s Editor-In-Chief. Mohsin’s background in computer science and vast knowledge of servers, data bases and firewalling make him a star player at his position. Daniel, meanwhile, is as creative as it gets. With extensive writing and performing experience, no one is a better fit to captain our team of Bloggers & Creative Writers For Hire.
2. To foster unity amongst the team members. When the Blue Jays let Reyes go earlier this week, many fans commented upon how much of a team player he was. While Toronto baseball fans consider the change at shortstop an upgrade, it is nearly impossible to replace the infectious positive attitude that Reyes possesses. A true team player and motivational force in the dugout, Reyes will be greatly missed by his former teammates.
Hiring staff members who contribute to employee morale is a great way to elevate your company’s success. Strong teamwork becomes the norm. And, as you can imagine, it greatly improves office productivity. Without a unified team, trouble can arise, work can be impacted and deadlines can be missed. It’s certainly best to hire a team of individuals who enjoy working together in order to grow your company’s success.
3. To be able to bounce ideas off of each other. You know the saying “two heads are better than one”. Well, in some cases, the more heads in the office, the more great ideas your company is able to come up with. Of course, there is also the saying that “too many cooks spoil the broth”. But this brings us back to having a team made up of individuals who get along. There’s a difference between that and having a team made up of people who always agree.
The latter is virtually impossible. But if your team is equipped with members who are only too excited to engage in conversations that help build your brand’s image, you are in good shape. Each workplace comes with its own challenges. And, at MeloTel, we certainly have ours. However, when you make moves to strengthen your team, you stand a better chance of succeeding in your marketplace.
