This change marks one of the many we’ve made over the past two years.

Since the pandemic started, we’ve had to revise the ways in which we conduct our daily business and offer services to our clients. Just like everyone else, we have had to adapt due to COVID-19. Our team has been working from home for the better part of the past two years. Thanks to the many cloud-hosted services we provide and utilize ourselves, we have more than managed. We are so happy to have been able to weather the storm.

Of course, we’ve done so much more than just weather the storm. We have grown our customer base by coming up with new and inventive ways to help business owners to weather storms of their own. Al Marani, who is the co-owner and general manager of Cora in Pickering, Ontario is one such business owner.

In the wake of the pandemic, the restaurant industry was hit very hard.

Recognizing this, Al, who is friends with MeloTel’s Founder and CEO, John Meloche, decided to take advantage of MeloTel’s Commercial Phone Services.

“When the pandemic hit, John – who is one of the most generous guys on Earth – said that he wanted to make my life a little bit easier by helping me with takeout orders,” Al explains, “Takeout orders were becoming a bit hard to manage because we only had one phone line. John offered what ended up being a five-line system where we were able to get multiple orders in all at the same time.”

“It worked out beautifully,” Al informs us, “We also benefitted from the fact that we were able to do things like state our hours, state our location, state our reservation policies and COVID policies. So that people who had quick easy-to-answer questions could be dealt with by an automated system rather than having to have somebody answer the phones and give that information and potentially lose a takeout sale as a result.”

Burgers On Fleek also benefitted from our services.

The Ajax-based burger joint is owned by Muhammad Bilal. Before taking advantage of MeloTel’s Commercial Phone Services, his restaurant was getting one-star reviews. “We’re a small business with one staff member who is working at the front, serving the customers and who is taking the phone calls,” he told us, “On busy days and nights, we wouldn’t have a chance to answer the phone. So people gave us one-star reviews, saying we were never answering the phone. Sometimes, they called after 9 o’clock. That’s when we close.”

“With MeloTel’s phone service, if anyone calls after hours, a recording tells the customer that we’re closed,” Bilal continues, “Now people don’t get upset because they know we’re closed. They also know our hours. Secondly, when someone calls and is waiting on the phone, they’re listening to advertising…And now sales are going up!”
