Client Spotlight: Burgers On Fleek

If you’re a fan of burgers, you will be hard pressed to find a more delicious belly-filling option than Burgers On Fleek. Located at 135 Harwood Avenue North in Ajax, Ontario, the restaurant is one of a kind. Its owner, Muhammad Bilal (who just goes by Bilal – feel free to ask for him and say “hi” when visiting) is a self-professed “foodie”. With no previous experience in the food industry, he and his wife decided to open their first restaurant last November.

Burgers On Fleek features a Halal menu.

One of the couple’s main objectives for Burgers On Fleek was to offer fellow burger-lovers can’t-get-it-anywhere-else options. Just one of those unique options is the promise of Halal (Arabic for “permissible”) menu items. Although the term is commonly associated with Islamic dietary laws, Bilal explains that Halal means a whole lot more than just meat preparation.

“If I tell you that I’m giving you a six-ounce burger and I’m really giving you a five-ounce burger, that’s not Halal,” he clarifies, “It’s not only the process of cutting meat, it’s about not lying to someone. You have to be truthful to whoever it is who visits your restaurant.”

What is the most delicious burger on the menu? Bilal’s personal favourite is the steak sandwich known as “Hookup”. It’s comprised of thinly sliced rib-eye steak with sautéed onions, mushrooms, roasted peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, garlic mayonnaise and shredded natural melted cheese on top. “I go crazy when I’m eating it,” admits Bilal, “That’s the biggest one. After that, I just go into a food coma.”

Now people are waiting and listening on the phone and hearing about our pulled beef brisket. And now sales are going up!”
