Have You Communicated Your Holiday Hours To Your Customers?

Christmas is about two weeks away and the decade will be over one week after that! Quite clearly, we are in the midst of the 2019 holiday season. Here’s hoping yours is going excellently so far. As a business owner, you’re hopefully pulling in the big bucks, enjoying the busiest shopping season of the year. But no matter what you do for a living, you’re hopefully full of festive cheer right now!

Here’s a quick reminder that if you need any help with getting into the holiday spirit, you can always download Uncle John’s Holiday Hits for free! As well, it’s important that we remind you about how necessary it is to communicate your company’s holiday business hours to its customers.

Do you own a retail shop that has extended holiday hours?

Over the course of the next two weeks, shoppers all over North America will be crowding the malls looking for their last minute gift ideas. If your store offers highly sought-after items that make for the perfect gifts, it would be wise to extend your hours to give people more opportunities to shop. Naturally, you’ll have to ensure that your store is properly staffed beyond the hours it would normally operate.

According to Kimberly Solarz on OnDeck.com, extending your hours during the holidays is an important step in ensuring customer satisfaction. “Come hell or high water, the holiday season will pretty much always mean more people spending more money,” she reminds us, “Look at ways you can extend your hours for the season. Ask loyal customers when they’d most like to do their holiday shopping, and cater to them.”

Will you be closing up shop for a portion of the holiday season?

This is completely normal, of course. Most businesses shut down for, at least, a few days during the holiday season. Because every company has its own unique policy, it’s important to communicate your altered hours of operation to your customer base. People need to know when they can and when they cannot access your business.

At MeloTel, we have several clients who are taking off the two consecutive weeks when Christmas and New Year’s Day take place respectively. We have many other clients who will only be taking off Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. MeloTel’s own holiday schedule is a bit odd itself. This is why we communicated it as early as a month ago.

Here’s another reminder of MeloTel’s holiday schedule:

We will be open for business on Monday, December 23rd with slightly altered hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

MeloTel will then close for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day but we will be open on Friday, December 27th with our regular hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MeloTel will also be open on Monday, December 30th between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., but we will be closed for both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
